I was excited to get my outer ankles from Jerry today. As usual excellent craftsmanship.

Here’s one of the legs loosely bolted together.

Once I get the wedges/cylinders from Tom I should be set with the letg.

I was uploading some old photos to my new SW new website and I came across a bunch I’d forgotten I’d taken.
Back in 2004 I was lucky enough to visit Rancho Obi-Wan, and toward the back of Steve’s collection was this beauty

I don’t know much about it, so if you do please let me know.

I also have some video that I’ll try and upload later.

This isn’t my only Star Wars related website. I have a general blog for everything that’s not R2, including my costumes, replica props, toy collecting etc.
I’ve finally gotten around to moving it it’s new domain this week. Gallery are still being uploaded, but at least it’s a start.
Check it out at and you’ll see that R2 is not my only obsession.

This just came in the mail today and had to share. As well as making replica props and costuming I’m an avid Star Wars collector. I’m slowly re-buying some of the toys I had as a kid. Last year it was the collectors cards, and this year it’s vintage Star Wars figures. The R2 figure is supposed to be mint/C9 but it’s not. It’ll have to do for now.

Got my Coin Returns from Wayne today. Super sweet. Here’s a couple of quick pictures. Click to enlarge.

Okay, I was going to go back and retro-actively add events and decisions that had happened before I really got the blog of the ground – but decided it probably isn’t worth it.
As it stand I’ve made a lot of progress in finding parts, but still need some major things like legs, body and the skins. Word is that Jerry will be doing another run of legs sometime next year and someone else has stepped up and will do a variant of the JAG frame. I’m on the list for some skins, so I’m happy and will most likely not use the second hand A&A Frame I picked up in November.
Here’s a rundown on the parts I have in hand and if you check my Parts page you’ll see what I’ve got on order or missing.

Well I got thru the R2 LA III DVD that I got from McMaster at the Don Bies get together – Well worth the money and I’m going to have to go back and get the set and can’t wait for the R2 LA IV disc.
I learned a lot from it and I’m going to have to watch it again soon. Mike Senna is amazing and I wish I had half the skill and brain he has. His leg tutorial is worth the price of the DVD alone.
Talking of legs a lot of people had been saying I should just go the wood route for my body and legs, but after seeing all the work and tools that’s need to do the job I’m less inclined. Another problem I have is that I live on the coast and it’s really damp and foggy here – I’m worried the wood will warp and de-laminate. I know how much doors and trim on the house warp from season to season (even when they’re sealed/painted), so I’ve decided to wait it out for an Aluminum run of legs and a body. It’s going to be expensive but worth it.
